Russia and China have called for a diplomatic solution to end the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program. “Russia and China assert that the regulation of the situation around the Iranian nuclear program is possible only by political and diplomatic methods,” a statement issued by the Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday.
The US and its allies have been accusing Tehran of pursuing a nuclear weapons program. Russia, which supplies fuel to Iran’s civilian nuclear reactor, says it has never been given any evidence regarding Tehran’s diversion from peaceful purposes.
In its latest report, the IAEA reiterated that the UN nuclear watchdog had not found any evidence proving Iran’s deviation from peaceful purposes.
