The US, the four other permanent UN Security Council member countries and Germany seek an early meeting with Iran over Tehran’s new package of proposals. The decision which was made after a telephone conference between the members on Friday followed an Iranian overture for talks made to the so-called “P5+1″ group earlier this week.

The European Union’s Foreign Affairs Chief Javier Solana, who has represented the P5+1 in talks with Iran, contacted the office of Iran’s nuclear negotiator Saeid Jalili to arrange a meeting on behalf of the group, ILNA reported on Friday.

The US Assistant Secretary of State Philip Crowley said the main issue to be raised in the meeting should be Teheran’s nuclear program, claiming that the diplomatic proposal from Tehran did not address concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

“Clearly the Iranian paper does not reply to these concerns,” he said. “It does not cover the nuclear issue. That’s precisely why we think we need an early meeting. We’re not interested in talking for talking’s sake.”

The talks would be a face-to-face encounter between diplomats of the two countries (Iran-US), which have not had formal relations in 30 years.

Iran submitted its package of proposals to the representatives of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany on Wednesday.

Earlier, the US had called the proposals unresponsive to its concerns. However, Russia said the package could serve as a basis for negotiations.

  Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is on a two-day visit to Iran to hold talks with Iranian officials on the realms of mutual interest issues. Davutoglu arrived in the capital Tehran on Saturday. He is visiting the country upon a formal invitation by his Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

During his short stay in Iran, Davutoglu is scheduled to meet with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili and his counterpart.

Matters of mutual interest including regional and international issues will be top on the agenda of the minister.

Iran and Turkey cooperate in a wide range of fields including economic and trade projects.

They are both members of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), a 10-body regional organization which was established in 1985 to promote economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states.

“I don’t believe there is any aim to take military action against Iran by the United States or Israel because the current stage the world is going through doesn’t allow any military action against another country,” Reuters quoted the Shia cleric as saying on Monday.

He went on to add that another military action in the Middle East would further destabilize the region. “Any war against Iran will ruin the whole region,” he said.

Fadlallah’s remarks come while Israel has repeatedly threatened to put an end to Iran’s nuclear program, which it describes as a ‘threat’ to its existence, by resorting to military action.

Israel’s staunch ally, the US, which has plans to diplomatically engage Iran over the issue, has, up to now, refused to give Israel the green light for a military attack on Iran.

Tel Aviv, the possessor of the sole nuclear arsenal in the Middle East, accuses Iran of secretly enriching weapons-grade uranium to attack Israel. Tehran has asserted that its uranium enrichment is a peaceful drive to produce electricity.

Islamic republic of Iran as the only religious government usually supports Islamic movements in any corner of world, In Lebanon, Palestine, Africa, Europe, Asia and America. Hammas of Palestine and Hezbollah of Lebanon are good examples.
But what about China and its Muslim movement in the north west. Iran and china have a close political relationship. Maybe this friendship roots from the hostility among Unites States and these two countries. Both of these countries have great problems with US.
So it seems China Muslims are an exception for Iran support of Islamic movements. During recent unrest in north China, Iran made no real attempt to support Muslims, also in the late Unrest in Tehran (after presidential election) China didn’t make any effort to support tensions, but The EU and US supported the angry crowd in Tehran streets.
The same relationship is between Iran and Russia. It means that Iran ignored the cruelty against Chechnya Muslims in Russia and Russia didn’t support the opposition front in Iran

An Iranian passenger plane has crashed in northwest of Iran, near the city of Qazvin with all on board confirmed dead. Qazvin Police Chief Hossein Behzadpour and Mohammad Reza Montazer Khorasan, the head of the disaster management centre in Iran’s health ministry, both confirmed that all 168 people on board have been killed in the crash.
The Tupolev plane went down near Jannat-abad village near Qazvin at 11:33 am local time on Wednesday after it took off from the Iranian capital Tehran to fly to Yerevan in Armenia.

Weeks after Iran’s post-election unrest receded, the Intelligence Ministry talks of evidence implicating certain Iranian political figures in provoking the turmoil. Many political figures and activists were arrested in Iran, during days of unrest that followed the June 12 presidential election.
Iran’s Intelligence Ministry responded to calls from opposition figures — defeated presidential candidates Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi as well as former president Mohammad Khatami — for the release of those arrested by saying that their cases were still under investigation.

It is for many years that Israel occasionally threatens Iran of military attack and bombing nuclear sites in Iran. But in fact this claim has never happen because Israel is not sure about Iran response. For example Iran can aim Israel by its native far reaching missiles. Or Iran can make big bothers for Israel by its close allies Hamass in Gaza and Hizbolla in Lebanon.

Today a senior Iranian official has warned that any aggression against his country would trigger a “decisive and full-scale response”.

“I think that America and Israel are fully aware what kind of result such a wrong judgment will entail,” said Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the head of parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, in Japan on Monday.

“That kind of erroneous judgment poses a threat to the entire Middle Eastern region and the world,” he added.

“Israel showed its military power sufficiently in the 22-day war,” he explained. “If (an Israeli attack) occurred, then the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond in a very full-scale and very decisive way.”

Boroujerdi’ remarks come after the US Vice President Joe Biden said Washington would not stop Israel if it wants to bomb Iran.

Israeli officials have frequently threatened Iran with military action to halt its nuclear program. Tel Aviv and its Western allies have been accusing the Islamic Republic of developing nuclear weapons.

Tehran however dismisses the allegations and asserts that as a signatory to the nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) it is entitled to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.

Israel is widely believed to be the only nuclear armed-power in the Middle East.

Ahead of Germany’s upcoming general elections, officials warn against premature announcements of alleged poll results by Twitter subscribers.

Before the state media are allowed to broadcast exit polls, baseless postings regarding poll results could fuel ill-founded theorizations about the outcome of the event, German authorities said on Saturday.

“It would be a disaster if the survey results were released before voting stations close,” federal election commissioner Roderich Egeler was quoted by Zionist-run Der Spiegel magazine as saying.

Egeler and other German officials suggested that in the event of such an incident, many would feel free to contest the official results.

The worries have begun haunting electoral processes worldwide after the social networking website played host to an avalanche of unconfirmed projections of Iran’s June 12 presidential election and the ensuing unrest.

As the voting was in process and based on their purported access to the exit polls, many Twitter users put up the alleged returns in percentage terms. As a result one of the candidates claimed victory about an hour after the votes closed.

Once the official result turned out to contradict the prediction the candidate and his supporters cried foul.

Twitter and Facebook also led other cyber hotspots in hosting video messages supposedly depicting the post-election events in the Islamic Republic.

The leaders of Hezbollah and the rival al-Mustaqbal party have held a meeting in order to enhance political cooperation.  Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Saad Hariri conversed about the prospects of the next Lebanese cabinet during the Thursday night’s meeting.     

The Lebanese parliamentary election which was held in early June was high on the agenda. The two leaders also discussed the aftermath of the parliamentary poll.

According to Press TV’s Beirut correspondent Ali Rizk, Hariri stressed dialogue during the meeting.

The correspondent further added that according to sources, Hariri is set to be Lebanon’s Prime Minister.

The meeting was held three weeks after Lebanon’s parliamentary election in which all Hezbollah candidates won a seat in the country’s Parliament.

The Hariri-led coalition, however, managed to win 71 of the 128 contested parliamentary seats.
